Overview

Note, this position has a hybrid work schedule in New York City.

 

As the Head of the Biddable Department, this role requires a blend of technological, operational, and commercial acumen. We are seeking a digital media and marketing thought leader to oversee multiple teams of high-performing digital media buyers, platform experts, and account managers.  A collaborative, proactive, and dynamic leadership style with the  ability to work cross functionally within the organization is integral for success. 

 

This role oversees all of the paid social, programmatic, and SEM business across AMS businesses - Involved Media, Active International and Xactv – spanning all digital platforms as well as key direct vendor trade partnerships.  The ideal candidate will be a forward-thinking digital expert and marketing leader with the ability to manage, inspire, and grow a large team of individuals across disciplines, seniority levels, and backgrounds. 

 

As a key leader within the organization, this individual must be sales and revenue-minded, collaborating with our sales division on new business efforts to represent the group’s digital subject matter expertise as the highest level. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a unique balance entrepreneurial agility in addition to genuine passion and ongoing intrigue for the ever-changing digital media landscape. As AI, data and analytics will continue to play an integral role in digital media, a background in quantifying and qualifying audience and performance metrics will be critical to success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, inspire, and foster growth for a team of media buying professionals including:

Talent acquisition and retention, organizational structure, career development, resource allocation, onboarding and training programs, and integration within the larger organization.

  • Lead the strategy, integration, and profitability of all biddable media services.
  • Set vision for the biddable practice aligned with client needs and industry evolution.
  • Drive revenue growth across existing clients and through new business acquisition.
  • Ensure cohesive team structure, career development, and leadership succession.
  • Champion partnerships with platform vendors and technology partners.
  • Develop innovative solutions, automation frameworks, and measurement models.
  • Own profitability metrics including staffing utilization, delivery efficiency, and margin.
  • Partner across departments on cross-channel strategies, commercial scoping, and productization.
  • Lead the agency’s external POV on biddable trends via industry forums, panels, and publications.
  • Oversee all new business development and partnerships to ensure new contracts and campaigns are commercially viable, with a focus on gross profit generation.
  • Collaborate with media department heads to leverage the full depth of offerings across both linear and digital, company-wide, inclusive of trade offerings.
  • Work alongside Digital Trade Leader to develop new partnerships to help generate leveraged positions with media providers to facilitate our client’s media placements through trade. 
  • Partner with Client Development and Sales teams across the organization to represent digital capabilities in senior-level management, new business, and priority account presentations.
  • Liaise with GCDO/EVP, Media to develop department budget and EBITDA goals and provide strategic and day-to-day leadership to achieve budgeted financial targets.
  • Identify and implement improvements to company practices, process, partnership models, and deal structures as it pertains to key account success with a focus on increasing margin and overall gross profit generation.
  • Collaborate on new digital product development initiatives to ensure they align with agency priorities and overarching revenue strategies.
  • Demonstrate year-over-year revenue increases, new client generation, and team builds.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position is responsible for managing all digital media professionals including VPs, Directors, Managers, Buyers, Specialists, Coordinators & Assistants – approximately 20-25 people.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Media, Advertising and/or Marketing) or equivalent work experience is required.
  • 12+ years’ experience in related agency account management, sales, business development or marketing role is required with at least 8 years digital media experience required.
  • Direct platform buying experience preferred (Facebook, Google, Trade Desk, DV360, YouTube, LinkedIn, Snapchat).
  • At least 10 years managing a team is required, with at least 5 years managing a team of 10+.
  • Experience with business development, revenue strategy & pipelining, is required.
  • Highly skilled in digital audience and platform sales management, a neccessity.
  • Proven success is multi-faceted role (Sales/Strategy/Media Buying/Management/Team Lead/Client Services/etc.).
  • Experience in utilizing and leveraging data & analytics to form a point of view and strong value proposition for clientele, required.
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced, ever-evolving and highly complex integrated environment, a must-have.
  • Proven people leader with articulate verbal skills and strong management portfolio, is essential.
  • Strong understanding of the digital media landscape and keen interest in emerging technologies, required.
  • Demonstrated problem solving abilities with leadership, professionalism, and integrity, needed.

 

Travel

This role requires regularly scheduled travel, up to 10% of the time, for client and agency meetings, conferences and industry functions.

The salary range for this role is $175,000 - $200,000. The successful candidate’s salary will depend on the actual ranges of current employees in the subject position, market considerations, budgetary considerations, geography, as well as the candidate’s skill set, level of experience, and qualifications.
